old part of the cemetery
Wilsontown cemetery just outside Forth has been the burial place of the community for centuries
This originally had an old section where most of the older headstones were located, years later an extension was added and to make the cemetery appear as one large cemetery, the dividing wall was removed.
However due to a fire in the Church the original and only copy of the Parish records for the burials was destroyed, and over a number of years due to vandalism and extreme weather conditions , these have taken there toll on the old headstones, many had to be removed for safety reasons.
This page is set up as an appeal for anybody who may have taken pictures of any headstones in the old part of the cemetery.
if you have any pictures or details could please get it touch with Hugh Adamson Email
He is interested in getting more information on the missing headstones from the old part.
The only burials now permitted in the this cemetery are for those with empty lairs in existing family plots.
Wilsontown Church is no longer worshipped in and is now a family home.
